Our story
In 2023 Matt and Amber Lesseg, along with their daughters, were given an opportunity to help steward a small apple farm in Oak Glen, CA. They put on their boots and got to work with the owner learning the ropes around the farm. With a crop primarily made up of Granny Smith apples, they kicked around the idea of not only bringing the apples to market as fresh produce, but called on trusted family recipes, along with Amber’s mom and grandma, to offer delicious apple pies and baked goods for the community.
With a business plan in place Orchard House Market and Orchard House Baked Goods opened. The Lessegs felt led during this time to take Orchard House one step further by establishing a non-profit organization called Orchard House Foundation. By using the business to provide people from hard places job opportunities and a safe community, Orchard House now acts as a supportive tool for those working to create new foundations in their life. We call this Pie With Purpose.
For two seasons the Lord allowed the Lesseg family to partner with their incredible neighbors to purchase apples and together, with their crew of family and friends were able to, pick, wash, sort, bake, and sell apples and pies through their market stand at a local farmer’s markets. This was an enriching experience that allowed them to learn and meet many wonderful hardworking vendors within the community.
This season they took time to re-think how Orchard House could continue to provide the community with the beautiful produce and pies they have grown to love without having to be so far away from the farm. The farm box collective is a culmination of all of the time spent learning about apples and growing this business and ministry. It is their joy to come alongside other incredible bakers, growers, and talented makers to bring you the very best selection of farm fresh produce, breads, and preserves all from the convenience of your home. A portion of every sale goes directly to supporting Orchard House Foundation.
